i think nightstands should simply organically rearrange their molecules to have whatever the port is you're looking for right there. like it had an ipod charging/media port in 2005 that's now a usb-c or whatever. also it doesn't plug into the wall and it's a little unsettling but hey it works and you only lose things in its drawer slightly more often than in a regular one
